Zusammenfassung:Die „European Association for Health Information and Libraries“ (EAHIL) ist eine Vereinigung von Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare bzw. Informationsspezialistinnen und Informationsspezialisten aus 30 europäischen Ländern. 2015 fand der Workshop der EAHIL in Edinburgh statt. Das Kursangebot war daraufhin ausgerichtet, bei den Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern das Verständnis von wissenschaftlichem Handeln zu vertiefen und ihnen dabei zu helfen, klinisch tätige Ärzte, Forscher, Lehrende und Lernende in der Praxis besser unterstützen zu können. Die Kurse wollten ebenfalls dazu ermutigen, selbst wissenschaftliche Grundlagen für unser Berufsfeld zusammenzutragen. Das reichhaltige Fortbildungsangebot (http://eahil2015.wordpress.com/workshop-presentations-for-download/) beschäftigte sich u.a. mit folgenden Themen: Kommunikationskompetenz, Forschungsmethoden, Systematische Übersichtsarbeiten und Forschungsdatenmanagement. Neben der beruflichen Weiterbildung und der Förderung der Zusammenarbeit dienen die internationalen EAHIL Treffen in besonderem Maße auch dem Austausch unter Kollegen.

Abstract: The “European Association for Health Information and Libraries” (EAHIL) was founded in Bristol in 1987 and is uniting 1,400 librarians and information professionals working in medical and health science libraries from 30 different European countries. In 2015 the EAHIL Workshop was hosted in Edinburgh, together with the “International Conference of Animal Health Information Specialists” (ICAHIS) and the “International Clinical Librarian Conference” (ICLC). The workshop sessions were designed to support librarians and information professionals in their daily work and to support the improvement of library and information services in medical and health science libraries. The event also intended to enhance understanding of research methods and to encourage the delegates to conduct and publish good quality research themselves. The parallel workshop sessions dealt with themes like communication, qualitative and quantitative research methods, systematic reviews, and research data management. Besides offering continuing professionial education courses, the EAHIL workshops and conferences are valuable opportunities for meeting colleagues, for networking, sharing and cooperation.
