Gerade einen Brief bekommen, in dem BioMed Central ankündigt, nach der Faculty of 1000 Biology nun auch eine Faculty of 1000 Medicine anzubieten. Der Launch ist für „early 2005“ angekündigt. Wie von der Biologen-Fakultät bekannt, sollen auch hier die most important papers within medicine und insbesondere die Top 10 key papers in particular fields ausgesucht werden. Es gibt 18 subject areas mit je 7-22 Untergliederungen, für die je zwei Wissenschaftler verantwortlich sind. Insgesamt arbeiten also ca. 240 Experten für dieses neue Tool: „Faculty of 240“ klingt aber nicht so schön! Unter den Key Contributors sind zahlreiche Deutsche von Magdeburg bis München, darunter Prof. G.Breithardt aus Münster(!) und zwei vom „Chest Hospital Heckeshorn“(?) (aha, Google erläutert: Berlin-Zehlendorf, 190 Publikationen in PubMed).
