Like many other libraries, we have reduced the number of our current print journal subscriptions in favor of electronic full text access. Our print issues for the current year are shelved on the main floor of the library and these stacks are now looking pretty bare. We plan to remove some of the stacks, and are looking for creative ideas for use of the space. We could add more study tables, create cubicles or pods for collaborative study, add more lounge seating, or find a really innovative way to use this space. If your library has been faced with the opportunity to remove stacks, how have you made use of the newly opened space? (Jonquil Feldman)
